Regarding claiming back from insurance companies for weather conditions, lack of snow etc - I would closely check your policy as most will only cover resorts at 1000 metres or higher, any resorts at a lower altitude are not covered.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I am sure Bansko is around 936 metres.
of course insurance policies are different, but the one's I have always looked at have these weather payments only if the resort is at 1,000m.
Just one thing to add about insurance,i got told by my insurance company ...a few years ago that if the resort that you travel to has 1 run open you cannot claim a penny on your insurance, the only time you can claim, is when the pistes are closed due to weather conditions.....meaning basically if the lifts are not working for you to get to the runs then you can claim..........and it was only £20 pday
So basically if the winds close the lifts you can claim, but lack of snow will get you ...

I dunno if this is the general on insurance but it was with mine
Just following up my original post - I have never seen the gondola closed in my visits. We did have 1 day of very high winds which closed only the uppermost chair to Todorka peak - and I mean it was really blowing - but it was quickly re-opened as soon as the winds dropped a little and even then it was whipping up the snow. I wouldn`t be too worried about losing out on the ski pass, etc - go for it and enjoy. If you are looking for an enjoyable skiing holiday as a group/family or couple ...

I doubt you`ll be disappointed. We are off again in summer this year for mountain biking/walking so hope we meet the guy in the hut!
Blue skies, light winds, cold at moment 10.00am but will be warming up, classic day yesterday, piste on upper slopes superb, Shilligarnika starting to soften, run to gondola slushy but skiable, ski road all but disappeared for last 500m. No crowds, no queues. Cannons runnng when cold enough, new snow forcast for next week...
