GOing out to bansko on 13th and really worried about the current lack of snow, I really dont want to have to sit around bansko for 4 days with nothing to do, you think there will be any chance of getting at least one slope open to ski? Thanksre: Really worried
Will the Ski season officially be open then? just because from the weather reports i have seen they will not have any snow by then and i find it hard to believe that they would let people travel this early when they very rarely have snow at this time. I'm going to Borovets on 9th January and i'm starting to get worried about snow so you must be going mad. I hope you get a dump of powder the next few days!!

If you mean 13th December then I think you will be pushing it as the seasons have changed a lot over the past few years. Snow comes much later now and I reckon you will be very lucky if you can ski in 1 weeks time - in fact I would very much doubt that you will be able to

Im a little surprised the tour companies are still flogging "Ski" holidays to resorts such as Bulgaria (and others) when the chances of skiing are less now than years ago. Not giving the customer all the facts!. Nice to be away over Christmas etc but i wonder how many would change dates if they knew the chances of snow outside on Christmas day was more likley at home than on Holiday!

This is not a great response when you have paid hard earned money for a holiday but there is not a lot of chance of BIG snow before xmas week.They are the facts and you'd be better going to Scotland at this rate!!!
Do some fact finding before booking anything!!! History will tell you what to do.

Sure Phil- i totally agree with doing some fact finding, but if one did fact finding ,they would know of the poor early season snow of recent years!- theres allways the chance of snow of course- But if you are willing to pay the prices for a Christmas "in the snow" you hope its there- really you should be told- like other places it may not be!- obviously we-look into such by looking at sites such as this- many dont then complain!

Fingers crossed. LAst year there was early snow which then disappeared by Christmas. the previous year there wasn't much snow early on but then a lot just before Christmas that saw us through the New Year. Lets hope it is like 2008/9 again but will have to seek other forms of entertainment if no snow!

Snows coming over the next couple of days, we are bracing ourselves for a deluge... You accept that commercial sites such as snowforecast.com have a hidden agenda, but when your getting severe weather warnings from the BG meteorological office, then i think we can take that as read... Its -20 on the top this morning, and has not got above -2 in the town... I would not right off next week just yet
For us ?? we will be trying to drive back and forth from Sofia, gonna be fun eh ??

Yeap, ill be keeping my fingers crossed until next wednesday...all we need is one slope open please..
