Like you this will be my girlfriend and I's first time to Bulgaria skiing and first time to Bukgaria for an holiday and we too are unsure what to expect. But the one thing we expect is that we are going with the intention to ENJOY ourselves and have a great holiday - that way we will do.
Read a lot on here, but always happy to go with an open mind and create my own opinions and I am sure they will be positives.
hello, we stayed at the rila, no hairdryers in room and you can wear whatever you like in the dining room, it doesn't really matter cos the food was so bad when we were there we ate out every night, which was cheap and every bar / restaurant was excellent
Just got back (28th) from Borovets and stayed at the Rila and here's everything you need to know!
It's OK.... no dress code in the restuarant in fact ski wear optional although it's extremely warm in the hotel so take plenty of cool clothes, i was in a t-shirt most nights. The food is OK but after a few days we got bored of mixing buffet food and went to the local bars etc for food which was exceptional value and great tasting. £10 - £15 per head includes good food and ...

No hairdryers in the rooms so take your own with a good travel adapter.. no probs. Enjoy the Snow and the apres ski... email if you want to know more but other wise have fun and enjoy.....
Hi
We had a great time at the Rila this year even though it was half term and extremely busy.
To answer your questions
1. Yes you can wear jeans in the restuarant + ski gear in the morning
2. No you do not get a hair dryer in the room so take your own + a travel plug.
some tips -
Do not change much cash in the Rila as the rate is poor - use the cash point machines in the town for the best results (switch / visa).
Take your meal tickets to the pool if you use it as this make sure ...

Take your meal tickets to the pool if you use it as this make sure you get in.
Food is much cheaper at the bottom of the resort (near Rila) than at the top of the Gondola (twice the price)
The people are friendly but Bulgaria is a poor country - so don't expect it to be like the resorts in Europe.
Find a good place to eat and drink and the locals will look after you and your ski gear while you save yourself half the price of UK restuarants.
Have a great time - hope the snow is good (if not go higher and higher)
Peter
To be able to use your "switch" card make sure that it as the "maestro" logo on it, most "switch" or multi-function cards issued by the UK banks do have this function enabled.
Without "maestro" you are unable to use your card outside of the UK

No sure this is fair
The food is good and the choice the volume is plenty - we have stayed at the Rila for 2yrs now and never had the need to eat anywhere else in the evening or breakfast.
After a goods Skiing you will eat your own arm given the chance - the food is good honest stuff. Just don't expect a five star cruise ship banquet.
Tuck In!!
you can wear jeans at dinner, you can wear whatever you want. The food is luke warm and not that tasty. the chicken is good though. There are no hairdryers in the rooms so i would advise you take 1. I was their a week ago and it is cold in the hotel so take jackets.
You can wear whatever you like in the restaurant and hairdryers arn't provided in the room!!
