Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I am a Bulgarian living in Washington DC. I have been lucky to ski posh places in the US like Deer Valley and Jackson Hole as well as St Moritz in Switzerland so I have a basis for comparison. I also skied Bansko this year and last year. The ski area is amazing and this year they have had plenty of snow. Everything from the high-speed lifts to the ski rental places (with the latest gadgets) work like clockwork.

In Bansko I stayed at the brand new Villa Roka hotel (www.villaroka.com) which is this cool, "zen-minimalist" affair done in black and white with a great spa and posh bar. On the local side, you have a choice of several unique taverns (mehanas).

While the infrastructure in the village is sometimes strained, Bansko is a Europe-class place at a fraction of Austrian costs. Plus, if you are nice to the local, Bulgarians tend to be much warmer and unpretentious.

Getting back to the nationality thing- I should just say that the Geordies -cornish folk and yorkshire folk are in the whole good-its just the rest of engerlish hooligans that give them all a bad name in the eyes of the civilised world. I was surprised to read about scots irish and wales idiots?! As an american traveller (over 25yrs) ive been all over the world and nevber seen any of these nationalitys causing bother? The worst are engerlish-then germans-then australians. AND THATS A FACT SUKKER
