Did your new board not already have detuned nose and tail? As far as i know most companies already have this done as sta dard although some more than otheras my girlfriends Arbour Edens edges r nice and rounded towards the tipand tail but i have a Flow Merc 2011 and each end is only very slightly rounded and still feels as sharp as the boards sidecut but it rides fine for me so ive never touched it haha.

I cannot reccomend a service in boro as i have never been but doing some research on board waixing and base repair etc will be useful in the future as you could buy a complete kit with iron for the price it would cost to have 3 boards serviced (In the UK anyway) itall really easy to be honest

Had two services in Borovets, both by hand (they've got a big grinder in the service area under the gondola in Bansko) one at Hunter's, the other in the ... well, a wee workshop behind a pub, opposite the Samokov Hotel ... next to the shop with the raised bit covered in astroturf. Anyway, they both did a great job. I'd think twice before doing a full service yourself, taking a sharp file to the edges of a new board is a scary prospect, and even though it was job for a while, I leave it to someone else these days.

As far as tuning goes i have not had edges blunt yet but the file guides make this easy. Rub off burs with the gummy stone And then jun the file guide over your effective edge a few times until you get your desired sharpness. Detuning is achieved by using the file in a seesaw kinda motion across the edge near the nose and tail but only on the part of the edge that does not effect your turning.

I never serviced before but watched a few vids and it may have been easier to understand the techniques being a mechanical engineer myself but i think if you follow techniques from youtube guides etc you should do fine, just be carefull in in doubt about large gouges to your edges then get a service but minor work is easy

re: SNOWBOARD WAXING

For removing wax ...

If you can, get hold of a mini-ice scraper, a metal credit card sized thing that you're supposed to keep in your wallet for the windscreen on a frosty morning ... they're the best bar a proper metal scraper from Toko. In saying that I just looked it up, the metal scrapers are around a fiver. Compliment it with the plastic one, as although plastic is mince at getting wax from the base, it's got little notches that are brilliant at clearing the edges.
