Cotton wool pad dipped in some sort of antiseptic liqiud (diluted dettol, TCP or even just saline), and firmly attached with surgical tape ... My salopete braces were rubbing against my piercing there so I improvised a wee solution to keep me boarding the rest of the day ... wore ones without braces until it got a bit less painful
