re: Season work

Welcome to the board.
I wish you well in your search Alicia but you need to be aware of certain things.

Firstly if you intend staying for over 30 days then you will need a visa and a work permit.

A work permit will not be granted if the work can be undertaken by a Bulgarian citizen.

Bar work is low paid and extremely long and unsociable hours and very few employers offer any days off during the season.

Not wishing to put you off - but you need to be aware.

re: Season work

Alicia,

Pete is wrong. Bulgaria is a member of the EU and has relaxed worked restrictions for all EU Citizens to work there. You do not need a visa. You have the same rights as a Bulgarian to work, although you will be competing against their willingness to work for a lower wage.

Once settled, you can apply for a residence permit, it is easy. In fact much easier than a Bulgarian seeking employment in the UK.

re: Season work

BP is right things have moved on, also in resort you tend to find that the jobs are indeed seasonal, down in town its a bit different, but in Borovets itself there would be an opportunity, but as has been said your up against local wage structure. Some of the larger hotels may be worth trying, theres a lovely spa in the Yastrebets Hotel, but i think you would need to be good with another language as well. Cool

re: Season work

Hi Alicia,

We were recruiting for bar work as we needed 4 more people this season, however I think we are now sorted.

Fraser is correct that in Borovets, it is seasonal work rather than long-term and a large proportion working in Boro, work in the Black Sea in the summer and then move to Borovets for the winter apart from 'core staff' who work there all the time.

If you send me an email, I can see if there's anything we can help with from our end, but it's also worth ...

If you send me an email, I can see if there's anything we can help with from our end, but it's also worth emailing:

Yastrebets Hotel (as per Frasers note above)
Yankiev Hotel - they do have a couple of people but they may employ an extra masseuse in the winter
Fiesta
Hotels such as samokov / rila aslo provide massage.

Can I suggest you go through a website such as this one, find all the Borovets hotels and email them directly saying what you are looking for... Once you have the names of the hotels, you may need to do search so you can get their direct email address as it's not always that easy to find out the emails out here!

You have to be aware you would normally get food and lodging but money / payment is either nothing or very small, saying that, you will probably be working so hard you wouldn't have time to spend it anyway!!

Like, I said, send me an email with more info and we'll see if there's anything we can do, but no promises!
