Hi Ciara
We usually take a bit to get us through the first day - around £50 for two of us. This covers the cost of hiring a security box, drinks/lunch and lift pass deposits (although I understand there's no deposit to pay this year). We take the rest in sterling and change it as we need it.
We use the change booth in the Alaska supermarket, which is in the middle of the resort, although some of the hotels will also change money. Generally the rate of exchange in resort is a lot better ...

We're heading out on Feb 14th - and really looking forward to it!
I'm flying out from Dublin on Saturday. I was told by a friend to wait till you get there to change your money as you get better value. I changed €100 just to have on the first day, the exchange rate in AIB is 1-2 levs. But i think its a little more over there.
Also i was advised not to use my credit card that much just in case its skimmed...
Im also heading to pamps on Saturday from Dublin, I have been 5 seasons now. Its best to change it over there. The Lev is tied to the euro so same rate everywhere. Also some places will take euros if needed (Duty Free)
Can anyone suggest the best place in Bansko to exchange? Also, it is easy to get your point accross and ask for levs, (sounds very typical of the English but i unfortunately cant speak Bulgarian and wondered if many of the locals speak English)
This year just me an my mate steve, usually we head with about 10 or more but credit crunch and all that. We will make up for the rest. We are staying at the Perelik as Usual as Its handy for the Bars and Clubs.
The resort is pretty small and Im not sure there are any really up market restaurants but plenty of good ones. We went over to Chepelare (nearby village) last year for a meal, Very traditional and cheap, was a great night.
