re: Single girl going alone

I would say that there is no problem going there alone. And there are plenty of places to go out. My advice would be to go to hotel Rila which is really in the center.

But you would better look at snow forecasts : the snow is really bad at the moment, wait a bit till snow falls down. No snow is foreseen during the first week of february.

Oh dear - Jay - doesn't sound like you had a very good experience...... Rather than just slating it and calling it 'crap' would you like to enlighten us further as to why you think that - what your experience of BG was....?

jools if you do go by your self just be careful and try and get a hotel that has lots to do and is close to the centre so you are in easy reach of your hotel, no different to going anwhere alone, also if going by yourself why not join a class great way of meeting people, you didnt say if you skied, if not why not give it a try and use it to make new friend out there, if you get in with a good group in ski school possibly end up hanging about togeather all week, thats what we did, what ever ...

re: Single girl going alone

the doctor said it will be a nother couple of weeks before i would be able to talk about it.ive been boarding for 7 years now 6 of those in canada ,you could have more fun and better conditions at milton keynes than borovets and it would be cheaper

Jay

Be fair - you really cannot hope to compare Bulgaria with Canada which by the sounds of it is your only other experience. We have only been to Bulgaria ourselves and are going to Morzine and even then I'm sure our comparisons will be fair and balanced.

ellie ive been to italy aswell and brentwood dry slope ,borovets is a lovely place to visit but not if you want to snowboard.well im off to japan to snowboard now so i wont say anything else about it.if you go have fun ,i didnt but i was comparing it to fernie bc wich is unfair.people told me how good bulgaria was so i tried it .if the snow melted in the rest of the world and borovets was the only place to go i would take up sandboarding thats it ,thanx jay, nice people though the bulgarians

re: Single girl going alone

I am going on my own to Pamporovo first week in March, I have been to Pamps 3 times now once previous on my own, so long as you are outgoing and talk to people you will be fine, best thing would be to book lessons so that you at least get to know people in your group, but to be honest you will meet people on the slopes and on the lifts so dont worry
as for Bulgarian men they are lovely, I have never had a problem with any of them, they will help you out if you need them to, the ones I have ...

You will not regret going on your own

Jools,
Boro is great, you will love it.
Rila is a nice hotel with good facilities, Samakov is a bit cheaper, Ice Angels is really nice, but more expensive. (but worth it IMO).
You MUST visit White Magic bar, run by the nicest family in BG, Christo (the owner) his wife Janet, and their lovely daughter Laura, will make you feel like family, with absolutely no pressure at all.
Explain to him you are on your own and he will introduce you to other UK people (early eve is best), you wont be ...

Tell him Mark & Kel say hello!!
We booked via bulgariaski, and got our own flights, (BA) so had a teriffic time, (3rd year this year), but snow conditions are deteriorating at present, so best wait a week or two.
