Ski Instuctors

Just been reading/talking about good and bad instructors somebody suggested that you can request a specfic instructor. I'm going to Borovets on the 6th as a complete beginner travelling with Inghams, don't know where I'm staying.

Has anybody got an idea who the ski school will be with and if they do are there any particular instructors I should look out for.

Thanks in advance..

Slightly worried Bob

Not sure how it works in Borovets, but heres how it works in Pamps.

At the end of each week the ski school head will hold a meeting to discuss the following week. They will be aware of how many people have booked lessons and from which country. They are each then assigned a class from a particular country and tour operator/or operators.

When you arrive you will be asked to perform a quick test of about 4 turns to assess your ability, and you will be grouped together with others of ...

When you arrive you will be asked to perform a quick test of about 4 turns to assess your ability, and you will be grouped together with others of simular ability. (Beginners will of course not be asked to perform a test.) You will then be introduced to your instructor and away you go.

Can you imagine the mayhem if you had six different people from six different countries of six different abilities all saying they want the same instructor!!!!!!!!

All the instructors I have had over many years have been different, but all have been fantastic.

Vasko (twice)
Marko (three)
Tony
Michael (twice)
Katia
Pano
Boron

all have helped me tremendously, and without them I would still be snow-ploughing!! Not one has been pushy, or arogant or anything else other than brilliant in all they teach, and great companions for the week(s).

The only way you can be sure to get the instructor you want is to do as we do and phone them in advance of your visit.

re: Ski Instuctors

Been to Borovets many times. There are 2 main ski schools. The Samakov Hotel and Borosport.

From my experience the instructors from the Samakov are far far better than those from Borosport.

Bob

See my posting under Peters comments re: instructors - I hadn't realised you had written seperately.

We went with Inghams last year and they use Borosport. We were very happy with our istructor Krassi and he is now classed as one of our friends. He is excellent but is usually allocated more intermediate groups as that is what he prefers to teach. Simon was skiing with him this year.

We went with Inghams last year and they use Borosport. We were very happy with our istructor Krassi and he is now classed as one of our friends. He is excellent but is usually allocated more intermediate groups as that is what he prefers to teach. Simon was skiing with him this year.

I skied with the children and we were taught by Nkki who is from the Albena Ski School. He was very good but had limited English which wasn't ideal from a social point of view.

My advise is go with the flow. Friends of our changed the childrens instructor on day 2 but otherwise people tend to go with the flow.

Have fun and hope this helps
