Ski bag weight

I see on Balkan Holidays web site that the weight of a ski/board bag should not exceed 15 kilos. I had intended filling it with additional gear so how rigid are they on the weight? Thanks. 11 days whoo hoo. Booze

re: Ski bag weight

It'll be the airline who determines the weight of the bag and I would suspect that they would be fairly rigid. It will depend on the airline

re:Ski bag weight

They were very strict on this when i flew in Jan with them and the fact that it only covers one bag (ie not ski bag and boot bag) which caught a few people out.

Limit is as you say 15kg however my skis, poles and bag = 8kg so plenty of room to fit some of your other stuff in. Thats exactly what im going to doing.

Ah we'll that scuppers the plans of filling the bag up, but, the bag takes skis an boots which is fine.

re: Ski bag weight

Right, bag can take up to two pairs of skis, poles and boots. With just one set in the bag it exceeds the 15kg limit, only by 1.5kg. Sugestions please?

re: Ski bag weight

You must have small boots and skis....

Put one boot in your hold luggage then replace with items of clothing.

Very Happy

re: Ski bag weight

LAbomba, just to say that I'm also flying with BA, and they've said I can use my ski bag as my checked baggage. I've stuffed it with clothes, shared the rest out in others' suitcases and taking boots in hand luggage.

Bit of a pain, but saves £68 at any rate!

re: Ski bag weight

Boon, it's actually a large bag, think it could double up as a sleeping bag at a push. Supposed to be for either two boards boots and helmets or two sets of skis boots and poles. As ever the weight limit for ski carriage is not well publicised, if I were to be cynical I might say it's done on purpose so they can sting you at the airport. We're supposed to be taking kilts but they and the accessories are quite heavy to. Soon be down to traveling in your undies with a hankie as hand luggage.
