Ski boots as hand luggage with Balkan Holidays - extra charge?

HiDoes anyone know if ski boots taken on as hand luggage will incur a separate charge? We have booked with Balkan Holidays and i seem to remember some gumph that says we have to arrange to take them and we'd be charged extra. This doesn't seem to make sense if we come under our allowance, or take them as one of our 2 hand luggage pieces.

Last year, at check in, a woman walked down the line with a clipboard and charged £17 for boot bags!

Steve - we went with Balkan last year from East Midlands and they won't let you take boots as hand luggage. Ours were in boot bags and we'd no other hand baggage at all, but they still had to go in the hld with the rest of our luggage. It was a pain cos we'd packed our hand baggage stuff in our boot bags too, so we had to empty it into a carrier, then check boot bags in. they didn't charge us any extra though, which was good.

not allowed to take boots on plane as hand luggage . . . they are now classed as a dangerous weapon!!!!!!!!!!! they can be booked in as hold baggage but are part of your 20 kg allowance. If anyone in group has booked in snow board bag put them in there. We have just spoken to Balkan customer services and they say that boots have to go in your suitcase. Not allowed as hand luggage at ALL If put separately in hold you will be charged. Hold luggage must be under 20kg and hand luggage under 5 kg...from the horses mouth!
