You need to get to a ski shop and get your foot measured correctly. The UK is one of the cheapest places in the world to buy ski kit from these days especially now as the end of season sales are starting.
Best just to get your foot measured first mike. Loads of brands but every brand and boot has a different shape which is good for different feet. eg I ski in Tecnica diablo fires which are a wide boot with a narrow ankle so suit by foot.
Boot fitting is a trained profession. Get to your local store, expect to spend at least an hour there getting measured, trying on different boots etc. Wear thin ski socks (peeps shouln't need thick socks these days) and don't be affraid to say if a boots to ...

Boot fitting is a trained profession. Get to your local store, expect to spend at least an hour there getting measured, trying on different boots etc. Wear thin ski socks (peeps shouln't need thick socks these days) and don't be affraid to say if a boots to tight here or too loose there. After all, the boot fitter will want to get it right so you don't need any adjustments done later but on that note, don't be affraid to take them back later if they are uncomfortable to get any adjustments done.
I got a good pair of boots over in borovets for 250 levs. I didn't have a problem with them. Just one question for people who know more than me. When you come back form skiing holiday how would you recommend you dry out your boots?
Inners out and place them in a airing closest (handy to give them a quick spray with Fabreze). Clean the shells with a cloth and dry them inside and out. Once they are dry (and clean) put the inners back in, do the buckles up (not too tight) and store them somewhere (not in direct sunlight) dry and at room temp.
i brought mine in borovets last year and they were a lot cheaper than in the UK for the actual boot i brought. Good fitting in borovets. Im flying out again this saturday yippee cant wait
