Hi,
After reading peoples comments on how bad the ski equipment is in Borovets it got me to looking on ebay for some skis.
Now, I've only actually been skiing once (07 to borovets) and I could have been wearing planks on my feet for all I knew, which in actual fact would explain a few things
I've since been a fair few times to xscape and did try some K2 skis which I quite liked but I dont remember the model, all I know is they wear 2007 seasons.
Sorry I'm waffling, to the point. I wear 166cm skis but could I get away with smaller ones just to open my options up a bit when searching on ebay, and could anyone recommend any intermediate skis that would suit my limited experience? I do have my own boots.
If this is only your second time skiing I wouldnt buy skis yet. There is alot of scare mongering on here. If you think the skis that you get at the ski hire place are not up to the job just be polite and persistant if necessary and I m sure they will be able to get a better pair for you.
dont worry im an experienced skier and used hire gear at Samokov for years, sometimes older gear but allways ok- just ask if they have been waxed, ask your insructor to confirm-
unless your really going to bomb it down the blacks youll be ok!
I got new boots for my second year last year and found them amazing, a very good investment. Not so sure I would shell out for ski's living in GB, once a year just aint enough piste time in my book. Make sure you try plenty of boots on though, I thought the first pair were great, until I tried some others and then some. Heat moulded liners are a godsend. Good luck
Ditto the above, I'm not a great skiier, but a friend who's more experienced said exactly the same - buy boots. The chances are you won't notice the difference between hire skis and your own until you get a bit more experienced (so I'm told). I agree with the previous threads, if you're not happy with your hire equipment, insist on it being changed. I know of people who have done this and were much happier. Thankfully been okay ourselves.
boots are more important.... i guard mine with my life .. as for rental skis . if you are not happy with a pair tell them to change them .. if you are in ski school ask yuor instructer to sort it out ...
