I was in Bansko last year and ski school looked OK although I didn't use it but people I saw with their insructors at lunchtime seemed happy. It really depends what you want. I am personally not a fan of any ski school as I do not like classes so would opt for a one to one lesson. However many people enjoy it and see it as a way of meeting people so your call really.
ski schools are good but I found them on the large size we were lucky over 6 people in our group could ski and had only gone for leasons because there friend could'nt and they all wanted to be togeather so it wasnt to bad but if everyone had been 1st timers that would have been a lot of hanging around. private lesons werent expensive and they would take up to three people think they were aboy 30leve an hour but you will probly learn more, if there is 3 of you going possibly better pooling ...

Just got back from Borovets - some of our party were in ski school and learnt quickly but the ski instructor was very pushy - wanting them to go to expensive restaurants for lunch because he got commission! Also pushing sale of video - towards the end of the week more interested in videoing them than improving their technique and wanting to arrange presentation evening in a bar of his choice (again for commission). They may not be the same in Bansko - just wanted to make you aware.
Got to make their money some how though - £10 for a 1 and half hour snow board lesson including boots and board seems like a pretty good deal to me! Our ski instructor did the DVD, lunch time meal deal etc - but hey it was our first time and I didn't personally feel 'ripped off' by that he really looked after us. I reckon he earnt his money.
8 of us just back from Borovets took Ski school as we were beginners all in the same group along with 2 others instructor was excellent patient and friendly.Took us to the same resturant for lunch and admitted that he got good discount for bringing in the buisness but food and service was good and cheap.
All in all had an excellent week and have booked again for next year where we will take Ski school and our instructor gave us his details so we can arrange to have him again on our return.
our ski instructor was the same he would have let us go and eat where we wanted but we asked him to recommend they should know where best, wasnt pushy and even took two people in our group down on like a locomotion due to there lack of confidence when we got to the top, I know he was knackered that day, never oushed the video infact we didnt even know you could get one or the price, they are probably all different but i didnt feel riped off, as a group we brought our instructors dinner ...
