Skiing newbie

First off, what a top discussion board, good work fellas

I have just bought an apartment in Bansko and am novice at skiing. I went to Pam about 15 years ago and that is the only experience of skiing I have.

Can't wait to get out there in Jan for my first visit to Bansko when there will been snow. Looking forward to more of the that great Bansko food and drink. What more can a bloke ask for - beer, meat, bread, cheese, potato.

Can anyone recomend some cheap and cheerfull website to ...

Can anyone recomend some cheap and cheerfull website to buy the basic skiing gear. I don't wont bargain basement, but dont want to spend a fortune untill I can ski a bit. At the moment I won't have to worry about these speed cameras, lol.

Cheers

Welcome along to the board Smag, good to have you aboard.

I have bought 2 cracking ski suits on E Bay and paid £16 for one and £22 for the other. Very pleased with them.

I will be in Bansko on 27th Jan if you're there come and join the gang.

As far as I'm aware there is no news of any speed cameras in Bansko yet, just Pamporovo and Borovets.

I'll champion ebay. As Newbies last year we picked up ex hire stuff for next to nothing (under £10 per item) and it was great. Feedback is everything!!!

re: Skiing newbie

can you tell me if it's better to buy lift passes and hire ski boots etc, at resort of pomporovo, or book before we leave u.k.

re: Skiing newbie

100% book before you go through your travel agency. Otherwise you risk paying up to double in the resort.

re: Skiing newbie

It is usually always going to be cheaper to buy your ski package before going skiing. If you have booked your ski holiday through a travel agent, they will be able to sell you the ski package which includes ski equipment, lift pass and ski lessons.

TK MAXX for great ski gear, I was looking at kids jackets for £20 on sat.
I hear that Matalan is doing some Trespass stuff from december.

LIDL are doing ski socks and gloves for £3 ea from thursday, goggles for £6. Hats for 99p, thermals LJ for £5.

ALDI also usually do jackets and salopettes too.
