Skiing with injury

Any Physios out there???

Thought I would be OK playing in goal last night (too old even for that it seems!) but managed to pull/tear my thigh (quadricep muscle I think) when taking a goal kick which is causing quite a bit of pain this am. Due to go to Pamps on the 27th - obviously worried that I amy not be able to ski - anyone got any advice re anything that may help recovery?

re: Skiing with injury

elevate
ice 20 mins
heat 20 mins

repeat evry few hors

in a week start slowly strectching it out, if you had teares it it would be totally black and skiing would be out for 8 weeks so think you have proberly strained it.

Go see the doctor of course to check

re: Skiing with injury

just a little word of warning,if you are injured and then hurt yourself whilst skiing many insurance policies do not cover the cost of your treatment if they decide it is as a result of an pre existing medical condition, depends how good your insurance is

re: Skiing with injury

Just about to state the same as Michelle, so be careful boys, 2 years ago had to cancel Borovets & Bannf Crying my mate fell off a ladder. He tried to get through with treatment but in the end realised it was a no go. We got our money back through insurance for the booked holiday. Just look at it this way there's always next season or the bar. Booze Booze Booze

re: Skiing with injury

If you self treat and don't mention it to doctor then it will be hard to prove its a pre existing condition!! Wink Wink

re: Skiing with injury

Hi
I also injured myself playing in goal at 48!!

Skied Borovets with Knee injury beginning of Jan
Brought special knee support for £60 which did the trick
Maybe worth checking what supports are available for thighs.
Hope it works out for you Confused

re: Skiing with injury

Cheers guys.

Must admit I had considered the issue ref insurance + am tempted to do the cold/heat treatment (have spent lots of the morning with froxen peas/hot water bottle strapped to my leg!) without going to the doctor. Cant not go as taking two mates + staying at my place so will just have to prop the bar if injury is not sorted.
