Thanks for your concern Damo, but my eyesight is fine. I presume you're talking about the dark green areas, which are essentially off-piste? If it's the lighter green areas you're referring to, then those areas are pretty much the same as the foreground. I know because I hiked up and down the runs in September. Surely, you can't be suggesting that these areas require a metre of snow to cover for safe skiing? Please! I have skied in far worse conditions in Bansko. What is far more dangerous, is that they advise people on their website that all runs are open, only to get them to the resort, take their money, and then offer limited skiing on crowded runs with people being shipped in from other Bulgarian resorts on top of that. They need the money from next week, and for that to happen they need to keep those runs as pristine as possible - that's why the people that are there at the moment are missing out. Ulen don't care, they've already got the money from this week's lot. I'm sure, even with the extremely high winds forecast next week, and the limited snowfall, you'll see those drag lifts open. When we do, we'll know it was preservation. I'm happy to wait and see - sadly it won't help the people that are getting shafted this week though.
