A group of us are looking at going skiing / snowboarding the 24th March. None of us are seasoned skiiers or snowboarders.
A friend who is not joining us has mentioned that the snow in Bulgaria at the end of March may not be good and we should rather consider going to a resort in the Alps. We are very keen to go to Bulgaria, not only because of the value for money but also to experience a different country.

green, lots of patches of it showing through the lower runs i woulda thought, last yr apparently by the end of feb it was getting thin on the ground, ull prob have to deal with a few ice patches too! however apparently this winter is that much colder that europe is about 1 1/2 weeks late with its weather so u might just be in luck!
Nick where did you get your info about not a lot of snow at the end of feb as you only have to look at the photos on this site at that time to see that you are wrong and when i was there late Feb early March there was sh#t loads.
There does seem to be some strange answers on this site at times...
Me too, there second week of march last year and there was loads, skiing went on well in to April!! there is a good base down this year and lifts should be open till after easter, ps Mike if you need some accomodation drop me a line
While I was there last week I was asking our instructor how long the snow lasts, he told me that it is normal for there to be snow cover in March and it has been known to last through April.
If you go that late dont take your own board as you will be taking match wood home. Look at the webcam you can see the snow is muddy and icey. There are rocks everywhere. Defo go to the Alps if you want half decent conditions.
Remember instructors will say anything to keep the season going longer!!!!
Just got back from Borovets last Saturday and went twice last year,When we were there in March last year, a week before the end of the official season, it snowed every day and night, real heavy stuff, the skiing was great. Mike
