I've been in touch with a local guide already so should have some o/p lined up if there is enough of the white stuff about. I think I'd be kidding myself if I knew what to actually look for in a snow pit. I know just about enough to know it's more dangerous than most people think and probably a few more of the danger signs. I'm hoping it dumps well before we get there; otherwise warm weather followed by a freeze followed by a big dump sounds somewhat risky
