Well, no surprises that the snow arrived today (as has been mentioned in these updates for a couple weeks now) and is set to carry on falling overnight tonight, tomorrow, the weekend and into next week. The heaviest snowfalls look to be on Saturday where there is potential for some really heavy periods of snowfall which i'm sure will put a massive smile on all our faces!

The temperatures have already started to drop and by Friday eveing will have dropped below the freezing level mark. However, temperatures do start to rise again from Sunday for a couple days, but luckily it doesn't look as though it will rise above the freezing level which is great as it means that the snowpack will not melt but instead will help to consolidate it through the freeze-thaw cycles.
This will be my last snow update for those of you who have been following them. I'm off to Bansko on Saturday!

Arron, I mentioned this in a previous post. It has all got to do with the fact that Pamps is at a much lower altitude than Borovets and Bansko and is also quite a long way away from both those resorts.
The higher a mountain (and hence the ski runs and resort) the greater the probability of the mountain, or at least the upper regions, being above 0'C (freezing level) which increases the likelihood of any precipitation to fall as snow instead of rain (as Pamps has been experiencing).

My advice is that if you want a "snowsure" ski holiday then you are best to always seek out the high altitude resorts with glaciers and don't book your ski holiday any sooner than the end of February /beginning of March. Of course, the snow conditions can and often do vary from year to do but if you need to book way in advance to secure the cheaper deals then that will be my advice.
