I've just been idly flicking through ebay (as you do), What on earth are snowblades?. I've heard of them before, but never seen anybody using them (must walk round with my eyes shut). They look like fun. Do they give you bad habits, are they as fast as skis? Do the bindings fit any boot? Can they be bought in Bulgaria?......................always looking for new and interesting ways to hurt myself

Pretty cool things really, about a meter long with a lip at each end rather than just at the front like skis. Means you can go backwards (by design...) and easier to jump with. Very good for hurting yourself when you get too cocky.....Fit all boots (i'm pretty sure) and I know I saw them last year in Pamp.

How good do you have to be before trying them?. This will be my fourth year, so I can handle myself reasonably well. I like the idea of being able to turn very quickly.Banknote

You'll be just fine - takes a little to get used to, but once you have got past the "these turn too easily" you'll be jumping and bumping in no time.....If you have size 11 feet like me, it hardly feels like you have them on...LOL

There was a guy in our group last year, and he could never keep up with us on the blades, we were forever waiting for him to catch up!Ally

we picked a pair up in march, think they where about £25.00 ?got them for our 7 year old, hes now great on them.
few of the shops had them, but not much choice.
best bet is if you can get to the shop at the orion factory

Hiya, I have to say blades are so much better than skis, I use them all the time now, cant get used to having long skis on any more, tried them again this year and had to keep looking back to see what was slowing me down!!
Good things about blades: You feel like your flying on them, Turns are much easier and a lot faster, In general I think they are faster than skis, They arent heavy to carry around with you during the day, They fit in your suitcase, and I personally would never use skis ...

Bad things about them: They are a little more complicated to get on and off, need to be able to reach your feet because most do not have releasable bindings, meaning that if you fall and twist, you snap your knees!! We have both found this one out!! Luckily though Head are now making a snowblade with releasable bindings which we have just ordered, Roy not too keen on snapping his knee again next year.
Hope this all helps, and yes they will fit any size boot and are easy to adjust.
