I just do not understand - they said on the news it happened on a learners' slope. How the heck can you damage your head so badly on a lerners' slope??? It looks to me like - so thin as she looks on the photo - she was just not fit and strong enough for any skiing. Sad!

If you fall over and bang your head hard and the circumstances are all wrong, it makes no difference if it happens on a nursery slope or on a black run.

I was in Schladming two weeks ago and the authorities are providing helmets for a 10 Euro returnable deposit. A free loan. People not wearing helmets were in a tiny minority.

Razz yep wear mine all the time now, you have to remember, its not always about you, some other a**e can wipe you out as well, as i found out, and a couple of really hard smacks later on the helmet, no problem, without the helmet???????? well id have certainly had a hell of a sore head at best Crying

Fraser, your comments are supported by Russ's story... it's so often the actions of other idiots whose actions cause problems.

My missus had some jerk ski right across the back of her skis at quite a speed and it really unnerved her for the rest of the holiday, always looking behind for troublemakers.

Been wearing a helmet for 3 years now. Would never ski without it again.

And they look cool Wink

Agree Pete, wore a helmet first time this year and it was comfy, warm and I felt a bit more confident about being rear ended, plus I could strap my camera to it and have been able to bore everyone since coming back with shakey video footage of my hols. Bonus Very Happy
