We flew from Manchester to Sofia on the 3rd Jan. What a complete and utter mare. I've flow BA from manchester loads of times and never had any problems. This time we were flying charter with Astreus (no I'd never heard of them before either). Took us ages to find the check in desk. Checked in OK but then had to queue for ages to put our snowboards through the large luggage security thing place. Then to top it all security must have been having a 'go slow' day because it took us 2 hours of queing to get to the security area to go to departures. They had two xray machines and only one metal detector working (there were loads of others that were not in use) and they were funnelling everyone through these. Gits! Just managed to make our plane with 2 minutes to go before departure (and there were people arriving after us!)
Apart from this I had a great time there. However that's the last time I ever fly to or from Manchester airport.
I'd give yourself a lot of time for queing! And take a good book.
