Hi We are wondering if anyone could recommend a hire car company, we are planning on hiring a car from sofia to Pamporovo in Jan, and any info or dos and donts ! would be much appreciated.
Hi CK, we have booked online with Auto-europe.co.uk for the past few years, really good rates, and they use all the well known hire companies. Altho we book with them, the car comes from Hertz, Europecar etc. Saved us £££'s in the past as i double check the rate booking direct with the company but it never comes anywhere close to the deal with Auto Europe!! Really good service, depending on your flight time, they'll either collect you (if landing at terminal 1) and take you to Terminal 2 ...

If you haven't done the journey before, don't worry, take your time, it's really quite an easy run, only 2 major turns, and they are well sign posted!! I know alot of the brochures say it takes 4 hours, but in your own car in your own time, it honestly wont take any where near that long!
If you need anymore info, give us a shout (we're in Pamps at the mo in our trusty Kia Saloon!!)
We used economycarhire.com last year + got a 4wd (Chevrolet Captiva) for the week for £320 which was miles cheaper than the others. As Phil says above it is an easy drive and there is even a Maccy D's just before you turn off the motorway!!
Hi Joff, just realised we used them too, and just as good too. We were really surprised by the prices this year, compared to previous years they've dropped quite alot, 12 days over the Christmas hols for £155. It's only a saloon (about the size of a Ford Focus i imagine) but masses of space and really does the job. We paid £60 more for a smaller car last year, bought us a few beers with the change
Thanks for that, we have had transfers the last 2 years but want to drive this year. We will be staying over in Sofia once we arrive and so can take our time as you say, and drive in the daylight the next day. Not decided on a GPS just yet but we will get a map and some directions. Think we will go for it ! once again thanks for the info.
Yes - just head towards Plovdiv on the motorway for about an hour before taking a right turn towards Pamporovo. Only slightly tricky bit is the roundabout in Asenovgrad where you need to bear right to effectively skirt round the town. After that it is one road all the way up the valley
Pete, You can definately go up a valley, for instance many valleys carry a river or stream from a mountain to the sea, if you start at a point and head towards the scource you will be going "up the valley".
