Spending Money

Hi Folks...time has almost come. Skiing in Bansko on the 14th Jan 06. It is the first time for my partner and I... so we were wondering how much money should we be thinking of taking with us? We are going half board so meals are covered pretty much. How easy is it to pick up more money if we need it? Thanks...CJ

re: Spending Money

I take approx £500 for 1 week for the two of us. On that last time I manged to eat out a couple of nights. Dont think you will need much more as eating out in Bansko is very cheap if you intedn to try it.

Hi I was in Bansko last March with husband. Despite having half board we ate out 5 nights had lunch on the slopes and loads to drink. Spent £200. This did not include lift pass and ski hire which we pre-booked. We actually took £400 and brought half back.

Just to give you an idea on our last day we had lunch out as the coach didn't pick up until the afternoon. I had a pizza, other half had pepper steak and fries, we had a litre of wine and the bill was £8.

Drinks in the local bars are mega cheap. You will pay more in the tourist bars and on the slopes but even there a half litre local beer will cost around £1.20 max.

Hope this helps. If you have any specific questions about Bansko come back to me. It is a lovely resort. Enjoy.

Hi CL,

You'll love Bansko its great. Don't take a lot of money with you and as Daniel said in an earlier post, take sterling but make sure the notes are new with no rips or marks.
There are banks in the town centre where you will get a good exchange rate but I found that the best rate was gained by withdrawing from the cash machine at the Strazite Hotel (sorry about the spelling). The cash machine is between the entry to the hotel lobby and Ten pin bowling.

re: Spending Money

Lisa with that M&S rate is that just for people who have a M&S credit card/banking or can anyone get that rate?

re: Spending Money

Yes cash is best although the Pirin Hotel will change travellers cheques. Not sure what the rate was though compared to sterling notes.
