Can anyone tell us how much spending money we would roughly need for a week in Bansko, just looking at food and drink really for lunch and evening meal. I know its variable, so only need a rough guide. Not big drinkers, but will be having a few. And, do we bring Lev or Euro's?
Thanks
Jo and Vince
ps still looking for any advice on how the Lucky Bansko looks!
when we went in march we spent about £40.00 a day but when out on a bit more off a bender at night about £60.00 and we were half bord so if i were you i would allow £60.00 a day and take stirling you will get a better exchange rate out in bg
I'd say around the £40 mark is enough, drinks are dirt cheap even in the hotels (less than 11 Lev for two double branded spirits and tonic) and no more than 3 Lev for a beer. Again, I agree far better to take sterling and change over there, but watch out for dodgy exchanges - your hotel should be comparable with the better exchanges. Our rep warned us that the ones that look too good to be true probably are - higher rates but you will get ...
£60 a day? What were you eating and drinking!!

Like everything else it depends where you are. Mountain is very expensive. Prices were about threefold of pamporovo the previous year.
Stayed in Hotel guinness. 7 or lev a bottle and spirits dearer again.
We ventured down into the old town, into wee pokey places and they were very cheap. About 15-20 of us. We just used to order the vodka by the bottle, food and whatever beer and mixers needed. It was really cheap.

Over the week you would need at least £300-£400 if your a beer monster £500
In Bansko last year my wife and myself went self catering and spent £300, ate on the mountain each lunch-time (a bit of a rip-off) and every night in a different restaurant (very cheap).
take cards for atms, then draw what you want in leva, it is the best exchange rate. you can use euros, but will get a bad exchange rate in shops.
Nationwide building society is the best, as you get a cash card and no fee to withdraw, so you acn draw as little or as much as you want without charges
Hi Jo and Vince,
Just got some recent photos of rooms in Luckybansko, and it's looking really really well. The facilities are top class. Are you staying there? It's nice thats it's near the old town as when we went last year, we stayed near lucky and ventured around the little mehanas (quaint restaurants) off the beaten track and they were far cheaper than up near the gondola. So it's a good hotel for access to some decent quality food at a decent price. whan you heading? We're not out in ...

Yes I agree re ATMs. They were a little picky about my card. It depended on what bank i tried. The bank staff weren't exactly helpful as you can imagine!!
