Stoikite orphanage

News this weekend is that Jasmine took the children to Chipan, for a football tournament on Saturday, the children ate lunch out and had cola to drink, we hired a mini bus for this event from donated funds. Saturday evening the children were taken to the disco in Smolyan and had snacks and drinks they had a wonderful day

Can I just add that the 'donated funds' were completely seperate from those donated to the heating appeal.

Well done girls Wink

Was it from the money the children raised by making the jewellery we bought?

Did any of them play in the tournament Question

Bet they had a great day and glad that Jasmine is back from her holiday. Very Happy

Hi Lesley,

In total honesty I do not know where ALL the funds came from. I saw a copy email from Amanda to Jasmine and it seems that she "topped" it up. She is busy with her family at the moment and should be "back" with us tomorrow and it is one of the questions that Andie and I have on our list to ask her, as we like to put every penny donated down on our website. Andie is a wonder and keeps track on every single penny, she is certainly the organised one in our Team . However, you ...

However, you can rest assured that nothing has been taken from the Heating Fund. It would be great if, after the heating etc., is done, we could build up some funds to give these kids an occasional treat.
The concert in USA will be taking place soon so that should boost the Fund (fingers crossed) and Amanda has assured us that tenders have already gone out and we hope to have more news on that soon.
An article re the orphanage was put in our local last week and someone has kindly offered a computer . Hopefully a chap who we know very well and has a house in our village in Bg. will take it over for us when he drives there in the summer. (I think I have enough stuff to fill his car up, his passenger may have to sit on the roof Very Happy)
My father gave me some money to buy the kids some "educational stuff" and I had a great time in Our Price buying lots of different craft stuff. I looked all over last time we were in Bg. and I could not believe how much stationery cost and the lack of paper, etc. for craft. I just need to fit it all in my bag Wink I also went to Tesco and cleared the shelves of school bags as they were knocked right down in price. Also bought some A4 lined writing pads, only 36 p. each. (hopefully these will also go in the car) Should anybody be going over it would be great if you could buy some. Also, tesco sell White bath sheets for under £2.50. The quality is good but not too thick for drying. The kids will need towels, especially when the shower rooms are done (hopefully the builders will be back in the summer). Amanda likes white towels and bedding so they can be bleached.
Well, that's all for now - until Amanda is back and gives us more news.

Re: donated items

Forgot to mention that the kids need good quality hair conditioner as this seems the best way to deal with the lice problem. They are also getting low on toiletries.

Glad to see you have been sitting with your feet up Exclamation Very Happy Very Happy

Just had a reply from Easi Jet (at last). Guess what - they say that cricket equipment doesn't count as sporting equipment and has to be carried as normal luggage Exclamation Exclamation
Back to the drawing board - I've now got to disuise the bags as bikes or skiing equipment Exclamation If I don't fool them I cannot have the extra weight without paying an arm or leg. I'm trying to work it so I can get as much out there, the cheapest way ...

I don't think the plane will be that full at the beginning of May so I may take a chance and see if they charge me for excess.

I'll finalise details with Amanda when she gets back. Very Happy

Hi Borogirl,

If you go to Halfords or Evans or any bike shop they might have or save you some boxes that they recieve their display bikes in. I've heard of people who take their own bikes on holiday abroad have used them.

Its worth a try.

Just need to find out if they allow boxed 'bikes' on the plane.

re: Stoikite orphanage

Do the orphanage have a soccer team?
I know many companys here in Norway give out football shirts for free, so if you need a set I could write them a letter and ask for shirts for the orphanage.
