Thanks to all you boarders

Hi

I'd like to say thx to all the boarders who chipped in on an earlier thread when I asked for advice on a board bag to get to transport little mans snowboard out to BG.

As advised I went for a padded, wheeled coffin style job to get lots of extra bits in ........... happy to say as you all said lots of stuff in the bag and more room in the case ........ brill.

HOWEVER ........... said little man now can't actually hold the thing up to drag it on said wheels as its too heavy, plus ...

As advised I went for a padded, wheeled coffin style job to get lots of extra bits in ........... happy to say as you all said lots of stuff in the bag and more room in the case ........ brill.

HOWEVER ........... said little man now can't actually hold the thing up to drag it on said wheels as its too heavy, plus due to his board being half the size of the bag some serious adaptions were needed to put the board centrally in the bag to stop it bending in the middle. Oh and now its full and doesn't bend so it can be wheeled easily (but not by the wee guy) it doesn't fit in the car.

He loves his bag and I love the amount of stuff I can get in it, its brill ......... not gonna be loving it so much when muggins here is lugging said bag and the blooming suitcase.

Oh I do love this board ......... apologies for my slightly sarcastic post but if I don't laugh I may just cry he he.

Oh and only 4 more sleeps and yes I can't wait Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

re: Thanks to all you boarders

Dona, I've been reading your posts here for as long as I've been checking out this website, must be 4 years now!

As the mum of two boarders (both now 18 and able to lug their own bags) I totally sympathise!

But, look on the bag you have bought as an investment. OK, you may have to heave it around this year yourself, but in future years your son will become more and more able to carry the load. Does you normal suitcase have wheels so your son could pull that?

Believe it or not I ...

Believe it or not I envy you, being able to get to the the snow this year - my two boys have A2s looming, so we cant take time out to get to the slopes even if I could afford it. Also I'm trying to help support 2 older girls at uni - so there's absolutely no cash to spare.

I'm worried, I'm now 50plus, and feel if I don't get back on the snow soon it will be too late... for me anyway, I'm not bothered about the kids, they've got years left!

God, I miss Bulgaria at this time of year, Borovets in particular. That's why I lurk here every day, just to get a vicarious fix...

Everyone, keep posting please!

re: Thanks to all you boarders

God I hope I don't have to wait till he is 18 for him to be able to lug his own bag but it is twice the size of him bless him and bigger than me. The man in the shop was no help whatsoever as he just said it was my own fault for buying him his own board when he is soooooo young ...... I think he was just jealous Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

My case does have wheels but as we're flying Wizz can only take one big case between the two of us so have a feeling that will be pretty heavy too ......... but hey on ...

I hope you are able to get back to the slopes real soon and good luck to your boys in their exams and know the feeling of a lack of cash. We wouldn't be going this year without lots of help and advice from people on this board and for that I'm a very grateful mummy.

Long live the board Booze Booze Booze

re: Thanks to all you boarders

I have a lovely photo of my kids, all sitting on my mates board bag in Geneva - he pulled them around on it everywhere! its not just a board bag, its a child transporter!

I know its not in your nature, but you could aways try the 'helpless female' bit and you never know, sir Gallahad just might come to your aid.......

re: Thanks to all you boarders

A suggestion, which is what we did with my son's 140cm snowboard in a full size bag...

Put the board at the bottom end, along with whatever other stuff you want to put in the bag, leaving the top end empty. Fold this over and secure with sticky tape/duct tape/parcel tape.

You end up with a small and manageable board bag that maybe your son can manage by himself.

Just remember to pack the tape for the return journey!
