Has anyone actually priced other resorts around Europe!! I've been looking to book for next years half term and for 2 adults to go to Pamps with Thompsons in Snezchanka Hotel half board with ski passes and ski hire £1200-Austria b/b £1600 without lift passes- we have booked France and ski hire and lift passes for new year £600- hotel half board over £2000 Bulgaria is good value affordable skiing
I can only speak of the price rises in Pamporovo as I haven’t been to the other resorts.
I am sorry but this rise in cost is not benefiting the majority of Bulgarians, it is
lining the pockets of a select individual or a very small group of individuals. (I think most people who know Pamporovo know who I am talking about). I really object to paying extortionate rip-off prices in order to buy the bar/restaurant/hotel owners a new Mercedes

The individuals involved are not increasing the salary of the staff working in these establishments they are just creaming off the profits. In the long run this behaviour is going kill resort. People are not stupid in the long run they will vote with their feet and go elsewhere. It really is not sustainable to increase these prices year on year without any impact on the number of tourists visiting the resort.
It is naive to compare these prices to the supply and demand issues in the UK. Admittedly the cost of supplying a mountain resort is more expensive but this hardly warrants the inflated prices prevalent in the resort; in most cases these prices exceed what you would reasonably expect to pay in the UK, even in central London.
Regardless the country and the people are fantastic, it is the greed of a small group that is doing a great deal of harm to the tourist industry that in the long run will kill off the resort.
I flew back from Pamps a couple of years ago with my 2 kids, a late flight and couldn't get train home till mornin. We stayed at the Hilton overnight at Manchester thrown in cheap with our holiday booking.
The kids were starving, It was nearly £50 for 3 sandwiches on their menu.
They even added £7 to my bill next mornin, Just for opening the Mini Bar door. I only looked!!
I refused to pay it of course.
Thats what I call a RIP OFF!!
Well said PP this is a catch22 they need the income to make things better and bring up standards and it seems that this is the only way. But i agree with WBD its about the bad people which happens everywhere. Hey ive had 4 years of really cheap beer and its gone up a bit and its still cheap. 3 more sleeps for me
PP its good to see someone passionate about a beautiful place.
Is the restaruant doing well (joke).
P
If you have somewhere like the Spider in pamps who have invested money in the building then you don't mind, but to pay the same price for a warm kamenitsa from a wooden leaking hut is a bit of a pee take. And yes I did spend most of my day time money in the spider.
In the UK we have had enough of service stations ripping people off, just look at how many M&S places are opening with same same price as other stores for a quaility product.
Pete thanks for sorting out my BAN on this forum(late in the ski season but better late than never).I PROMISE TO BE A GOOD BOY AND TO TELL THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH(as always)!!
Borovets is like close space (the owners there and the group of very very powerfull people dictate the prices and that does not depend on the supply or demand.
The same goes for the Beach Monsters BG Resorts like Sunny?Beach ,St?Vlas , Golden??Sands and pretty soon Obzor,Sozopol and the rest along the ...

Front line place means front line-like on the battle field where there is a war between all sorts of forces. If you are unlucky to cross, will things get ugly very quickly.
The policing of these places will never be on a good level-this is not northern Europe.Everything is rather loose even at the high levels.
Rules are simple-in bars where there are drinks there will be problems especially with foreigners because they are very easy target.if there is a problem just go out get away from it there is no point of trying to find justice because you will be banging you head against metal door.
Most of the owners in the ski resort are the same power as on the beach so dont expect any different there in the summer.Just be carefull and have eyes on you back -dont go with valuables dont drink have a dance enjoy yourselfs (it is a ski resort not a drinking house at the end of the day)>If the skiing is good(??) you should be tired .have a rest and accumulate for the next day skiing if any available.
