For the first time in many years the resorts will now be open to competition which will bring down the prices for the guests and the locals.More funding is being given to resorts to improve rubbish collection, roads etc an everyone is well aware that the standards need to meet a european and not Bulgarian one.
Guests to Bulgaria will start to see the benefit of this as of next year.
I am confident that guests will enjoy Bulgaria, the standards and the prices as a result of all the hardwork and heavy investment.
The price rises are just a rip off, like previous posts on here this season you just need to go a couple of miles out of the resorts and the prices are 1/2 or less so its got nothing to do with EU, wages etc etc. Also what they are forgetting is that in many other european resorts you can ski all week and never go back to the same place, you can't do that at pamps. Lift passes might be a little cheaper but not that much in some cases.
the irish prime minister was in consultation with government here and mafia businesses are being targetted very strongly and no longer being tolerated.
Pamporovo plc has just sold the perelik hotel and for the first time in 5 years, leasing contracts for all the shops, bars and restaurants are now negotiable, no longer just to one business owner.
definately a good thing
From a UK perspective the UK is in dire straights currently with the credit crunch and the potential house market crash which if it continues will force people to stay at home in the UK. Or if they do go overseas it will be the cheapest places which win not those who are upping their prices.

Also conversly this time laast year the £:E was 1.45:1 this has now dropped to 1.24:1 the Lev is pegged to the Euro at a fixed rate in prep for the 2010 single currency so due to forign exchange movements this will have seen prices rise over the last 12 months without any internal price rises, any internal price rises will have been amplified by this.
As I own out there I have a Euro account for any rental which I use to cover running costs taxes & mortgage but any left over I will use this first so the price will be as it was last year and not as it is now.

re: The PRICE Thingy
The exchange rate will play a factor into the price increases but the fact is that as a place becomes more popular the price will rise, this is complement to Bulgaria as more people choose to go there not just to ski but for their summer holidays too & like others have said compare the prices to France, Austria & Switzerland you have still won a watch, so to speak.
About the tignes and val'disare,i went there on my first ski holiday some 4 yrs ago and will say it's souless and very expensive, even back then it was 8euro for a bowl of soup and 5euro for fries thats just about £10 then it was £3.50 for a coke and £5 for a pint with a bottle of water going at £2.60 and closer to £4 on the mountain..
Yes there is more to ski and yes you can get a all mountain pass for both resorts which was 155euro 4 yrs ago...

Ski hire and lessons were a hell of a lot more expensive i had 3 private 2 hr lessons cost was £180 and my 5 days of hire was £80 with the price of the chalet at £700 over new year..
Granted it was a very nice catered chalet but the whole week cost me £1500 the year after i went to Pamps and for me and my 2 kids the week half board cost me £1400 all in with spending money and that was over new year...
Yes the prices have gone up in the last 2 yrs but i just went to borovets and ate and drank till it come out of my ears and still only spent £260 for the week, compare that to a summer holiday in spain and i would have doubled what i spent...
Easy solution to this guy's if you don't like it don't go but please stop bleating on out price hike's like it's the end of the world after all skiing holidays to most people are a second holiday and if you can't afford Bulgaria then you'll not afford any where else and thats about certain, there is nowhere you can ski cheaper in the rest of europe..
I went to Serbia (Kopaonik) 2 years ago. Hellofalot cheaper and the skiing was on a par if not better. Not as many bars and clubs to cater for the party animals, but also no touts trying to get you into said bars and clubs. Anyone else who's been there care to make a comparison?

Here, here I just want to say that if you are clever enough you should be able to plan your evening around the many happy hours on offer. That will keep your costs down if your worried.
