The risk of going skiing at the beginning of the season

Loads of people are complaining about the lack of snow, a bit of rain etc. It's the very beginning of the season - things take time to get going...

If you went on a summer holiday the first week of May and it was only 20 degrees whereas in August it could be 35 degrees would you still be complaining as much - you take your choice as to when you go.

It's not quite the same Judith. You go on a skiing holiday to ski, a summer holiday is not so dependent on the weather.

Having spent one summer holiday when it rained all week as it was end of season - well, yes you do - you tend to go on a summer holiday to lie around on a beach or by a pool chilling out - not to get rained on every day

You really do take pot luck with Bulgaria at this time of year and I would not recomend anyone to go before xmas but some people have no choice. Thing is you can 100% gaurantee snow anywhere. The thing that annoys me are the people that are going mid Jan and are already worrying!!! Confused

there might be not much snow but what do u expect wen u go at the start of the session esp in bulgaria, if u hav to go right at the start surly pick a more reliable resort. bulgaria is great in feb and late jan and most times, but at the start and end of the session think about were u spend ur money. Daniel,

I always have a good worry about this time of year and then the clouds provide the answer in time. This will be my 4th time to Bulgaria and it has always been touch and go, but come through in the end.

It's part the charm of going there.

18 days and counting. Some of my mates are going this Sunday, they probably have more to worry about!

It is good when reading the board that it is not only me obsessive about snow forecasts. If there are only 3 or 4 reds/blacks open ...

It is good when reading the board that it is not only me obsessive about snow forecasts. If there are only 3 or 4 reds/blacks open then bring it on - at least we'll be on the mountain. As much as I love drinking it goes a lot better with a bit of the white stuff.

See you over there.

Cheers
Iain
