It was fab, food brill, new years party excellent, staff really friendly.
But boy did people moan about it.
We are off on a cheapo last min hol to Hotel Mura - Im expecting food not to be good, but as long as it is warm & clean - bring it on.
Ive never had a bad hol anywhere. for christ sake your only there for a week or two and no money can get that time back - so just enjoy! and drink
Prices are rising everywhere. Prices were much cheaper 15 years ago in Germany, Austria, Switzerland - not sure about France. Very expensive in Val d'isere in 1986 though.
Still, Germans are visiting Austria, Switzerland, and their own resorts.
Just last year, I met a huge party of Germans enjoying a pre season ski trip in Zermatt. Not the cheapest of places in the world. yet they were enjoying themselves.

Resort costs are a great factor in anyone's decision to visit. But I don't think the costs involved visiting Bulgaria for any type of holiday are at all unreasonable. Quite the opposite really.
I agree with a previous comment. You don't get so many pretentious poseurs. All the gear and no skills for the hills types - often seen in the more glitzier Alpine resorts.
But if they've got the gear, talk the talk and walk the walk, and manage to look good on the slopes, let's not begrudge anyone a smarmy grin or two when they've defeated the blackest of blacks or claim to have not noticed any ice. If more proficient skiers, poseurs or otehrwise visited Bulgaria, and other general numbers of visitors keep increasing, wouldn't that force the other ski tourism countries to pay serious consideration to the Bulgarian competition?
Perhaps even reduce in resort costs - a main one being cost of uplift and local transportation....
I agree with all the comments above. This was my 5th time skiing, and my 1st time in Bulgaria, and for the price we paid for everything I couldn't fault the holiday for VFM! What we paid for 2 of us to go to Bulgaria would have been the cost for 1 of us to go to France, Italy, Austria or Switzerland. Too many people expect a champagne holiday but are only prepared to pay beer prices for it. You get what you pay for, but in this case I think we got alot more for our money.
Agree with many comments. You book because its cheap. Its a fantastic place. Try Crystal ski as just booking for next year and upgarding hotel and its cheaper than this year. Its what you make of your holiday and if you moan all the time you arent going to enjoy it. Go with positive mind and go with the flow. Its safe, cheap and great fun
Great to read some good positive comment for a change, this was my first time in Bulgaria and I'm sure I'll be going back next year and taking a group of ten, most of whom are beginner. Bulgaria is a cheap place to learn, especially with the free lift pass that can cost an arm an a leg in other countries.
Most of the people I met said they were there because it was cheap and thought they were getting value for money, but the "all the gear no idea" brigade were constantly moaning. My advice ...

As I've already said Bulgaria is not perfect but it still represents good value for money.
Im looking forward to my trip to pamps in 4 days, i have paid very little compared to other places i could have gone, i know i will have a good time as Snowplow said its what you make it and the company you are in. every time you go on holiday something will have changed since the last time you went, that is life, and if they were all the same then that would be boreing. in advance i had a fantastic holiday and i would go again. i can say that because every holiday i have ever been on has ...

Steph are you moaning about me moaning about people who are moaning.
I have a life and I look at it through a glass that is half full, I get the feeling from your comment your glass is alway half empty.
Me and Mrs Wheres me skis are returning to Pamps for the 3rd year running, though we also tried Courmayeur in Italy in Jan,where hotel standards etc are a lot higher, and while I agree drinks prices are higher than in Pamps
the holiday itself was no more expensive than staying at the Hotel Pamps in 2006.By booking early with Crystal we got a free lift pass each in Italy. The food in the Italian hotel was so good that it was like eating in a good class restaurant so I suppose that if you ate ...

The food in the Italian hotel was so good that it was like eating in a good class restaurant so I suppose that if you ate in every night it could work out cheaper than staying in Pamps and buying several meals out in local restaurants .
I suppose it comes down to personal choice ,we like both Italy and BG but maybe some people shouldn't be so certain that BG is always cheaper than the Alps, cos its not always so.
