I have been to Pamporovo three times and I have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Skiing conditions were superb this year. Every time I've had young to mid teens with me so we've not really sampled the nightlife!
But for us it's Borovets every time.
We found the runs in Pamporovo really quite limited for my experienced boarders (they've been doing it since they were 10 and are considered pretty good). I've been to Pamps and Boro (twice).

We found the runs in Pamporovo really quite limited for my experienced boarders (they've been doing it since they were 10 and are considered pretty good). I'm a low intermediate skier and there wasn't much in Pamps for me. We loved the Orlovetz Hotel, but were a bit disappointed in the food there and weren't that impresses with what we found out in the village. Getting to the slopes was a bit of a pain what with having to get the bus every day, and as for the medical centre at Studenets - well, don't get me started on that!
Borovets, we stayed one time at the Iglika (reasonable food) and the other in a rented apartment in the Royal Plaza right in the centre. Best holiday we've ever had, that one! Restaurants are mostly very good in Boro, and even better if you venture down to Samokov. The hospital in Samokov is actually good, as is the doctor at the Samokov Hotel. (Yeah, my kids are accident-prone!)
But in Borovets we found there were loads more runs to suit all of our capabilities, my boys had a wicked time boarding, and I just love the skiing there because it suits me perfectly.
It's hard to do ratings, but we've also skied in Austria and France, (sampled the medical care in both places too!).
But.... We would all go back to Boro in a heartbeat.
Hahaha who labelled us the smash direct group? Good nighlife is a big part of the holiday. Snowsyparker couldnt speak highly enough about Boro, thanks for that post, the only real thing lurking in the back of mind is that I would estimate that around 70% of our flight got on buses to pamps, thier was two schools our large group, another party of 4 or 5 young lads and a couple of individuals and one or two families. It seems to be the most popular there?
i have been to pamps several times and as a family guy i would definately recomend borovets for smash direct.alot more ladies of the night around strip bars, lods of other bars for karaoke etc
been all over the world including summer skiing and can carve the tomba black run from top to bottom so pretty good and would rate bansko did not like borovets at all
What would you say in particular is good about bansko? Is it the number of runs on offer or the quailty of the runs, the general cost of things in the resort, the nighlife, good food, nice hotels? Thanks.
