As we have seen over several years the big boys of Borosport have been stuffing money in their back pockets instead of investing in the resort, how does the saying go (you need to speculate to accumulate), maybe someone needs to remind them before it all falls around their ears.

I know its still in its early stages but the French are making inroads into making the biggest ski resort in Bulgaria and have invested 1 million euro's into the project, It is known as the Rila Destination Project and can be researched on the internet as to its progress.
If this project comes off then it will be a ski resort that will match some of the best in Europe, we are talking about some 250kms of ski runs all with investment from outside Bulgaria.
So with this in mind Borosport wake up or you will be left on the shelf which will be such a pity as Borovets is such a lovely traditional resort not spoilt by over development, lets watch this space and see if they have got the gumption to actually dip into their pockets and get the resort back to its best.
Franc.
Which other resorts have you been to? Borosport port can't make it snow and they can't make the resort higher than it is. I appreciate that this is a tough season for many but if you booked a sailing holiday and there was no wind, who would you blame.
The French resort, although welcome news, is a long way from being a reality and everyone should brace themselves for it not happening. Bearing in mind the super borovets investment, Accor could shelve this at any time.
Good point KGB but borosport could invest in some more canons at the top of Mountain (marky slopes). Its normally cold enough for them to run up there. That could open up a large nursery slope, a decent blue plus the red and black taking some preassure of the yastrabets.
they've been going on about that French project for at least two years and as KGB said the Super Borovets about ten years ago and that was all tied up with going for the Winter Olympics in 2014
It would be nice to have snow cannon coverage up top, I mean, who wouldn't want that but I'm guessing that the economics of running a ski resort must rely in part on natural snow. If borosport aren't earning any money from the restaurants then they too are suffering with this weather. The timing of the ski race could have been better but who could have foreseen this lack of snow, not just in Bulgaria but in many countries.
This year Borosport replaced the lift pass system, a great decision ...

This year Borosport replaced the lift pass system, a great decision which addressed some problems from previous seasons but problems that only really existed at Christmas and half term.
I do remember having problems getting into the resort 2 years ago because of too much snow and when conditions vary so much from year to year it must be nearly impossible to get it right every time.
I welcome the possibility of a new resort but it will be in the same mountain range as borovets and will suffer the same ups and downs with the weather. The only difference is that it won't face south with so many of its runs and won't suffer with the sun problems that we see on cherveno zname.
Borovets isn't a nice traditional resort, morzine and gerardmer are. Borovets isn't snow sure tignes and val thorens are. But it's an ok resort which is a whole lot cheaper than most places and therefore fills a niche.
