It's at your discretion Yoz, but it is customary to tip your instructor if you feel they have looked after you well.
PLEASE do not buy them gloves or hats as some people do, they have all of these they need. It is a really short season for them to earn money so every little helps and I would suggest the amounts mentioned above are reasonable.
its nice to see people actually asking this question, they only take home about 150 euros a month for 4 months a year, if you get a good instructor its nice to let him know
xx
150 euros a month! when we were in Bg last year one of our porters told me he earned 100 euros a month and i thought he must mean a week and still felt sorry for him. These wages are disgracefull when you relate it to what you are paying for everything. Somebody somewhere must be making a fortune and no wonder the poor bulgarians are trying to make an extra lev where they can, do you blame them?
Wages are improving in Bulgaria - but they are still dreadful compared to ours.
A friend of ours sells CD's in the summer at Sunny Beach in the main shopping area. He sets his stall out at 7am and finishes about midnight. 7 days a week - and earns approximately £35 a week.
Yes Roger - you are right !
But you should ask a teacher, what they get per month ! ;-) - or any other Bulgarian worker on government's payroll !
May be you know or remember about the long teacher strike at September 2007 in Bulgaria, when almost all schools couldn't open !
So - if a ski instructor has 150 Euros a week and a group of 15 with average 150 Euro tip a week - I guess he will surely survive, but this still confirms the posts of PP and Michelle.
