What we did was the class put what they thought was reasonable into one envelope and gave it to the instructor at the end of the week. You need to arrange this before the last day so everyone knows and remeber that while some people find Bulgaria cheap for skiing it may be an effort for others to afford. This way avoids any embarrassment about how much individuals have put in. Also be discreet about how you do it or their bosses want a slice!
depends how good they were, I would say you should tip at least 10 lev each but if they have really been a great ski instructor then tip them as much as you think/feel fit
I tipped mine 50 Lev, but thats only because the rest of the class tipped nothing and I was embarrassed.
My boyfriend and I thought our instructor from the Samakove Ski School in Borovets last week was brilliant. We tipped him £20 which is about 55 lev for the both of us. We put the money in an envelope together with the tips from some of the other members in our group. We gave it to him on the last night.
Instructors are very appreciative regarding any amount. I have always tipped around £10 per person. I always think when we all leave our loose change for the cleaner it can quite easily add up to this, I know they do a great job too ( Don`t want anyone to take that the wrong way), but remember that Instructor has kept you safe all week and given you a brilliant time.
You are tipping way too much. Sorry, but there have been several notes on here regarding how the good natured Bulgarians are wiseing up to the wealth differences - pretending to have no change, demanding tips etc. You should realise how much they earn (approx £100 per month) and tip accordingly, this means a few lev. It may sound cruel/harsh etc, but you guys flashing your cash are not helping the situation, you will be the ones moaning in a few years when the beers are £5 a pint. Calm down, ...
