To the 'older' more 'mature' skiers on this Board

I've just booked up for my 30th odd ski trip to Pamps and I'm now 52. How long can us 'older' skiers on on for? Pamporovo Pete has kindly invited me to ski with his group this year and he won't mind me saying that he'll be 56 when we go in March. So do we carry on till we croak it or hang our ski boots up on a high?

Interesting to find out who's the 'oldest skier in town'

Now where's me slippers!

There was a guy from Denmark who used to ski Pamporovo every year Trevor. You may well remember him his name was Vim - he was 84 the last time I saw him.

He still skied the black runs and was on the dance floor in BJ's until the early hours. A Pamporovo legend!

One of our group will be 66 this year and still skis brilliantly.

All about keeping fit and looking after yourself Wink but I doubt very much if I will emulate Vim Razz

One of my group that went last week, was 64 and it was their first time. She was in the beginners class with myself and she was very determined to ski!!

Trevor - what's the matter with you Question You've plenty of years left and in fact it will keep you active for longer, just slow down a bit and go for a little more apresExclamation

As I've said before, my mum took up skiing when she was 63 and managed to ski black runs for years before arthritis took over completely. The only problem she had was sight - couldn't see where she was going, so we had prescription sun glasses and goggles made up for her - sorted Exclamation Very Happy

re: To the 'older' more 'mature' skiers on this Board

Hi Pete

A couple of years ago we were in a ski group where my son was 10 and the oldest in the group was Alec who was 85! Fit as a fiddle and had just done the New York marathon. Our ski instructor (Plamen) contacted the BG TV who came out and interviewed him. They could'nt believe it and it made national TV, it was amazing to have a ski class with a range of 10 to 85. This old boy could ski a bit, the Wall, the 2 steep blacks under the 3 man. incredible!

I hope I make 65?

Pete

Was the guy from Denmark the one who used to walk around the middle station and ski in the nod? Seen him a few times!

Don't think so mate - Vim was a bit of a lad, but never saw him do that. Surprised

i was in austria a few years ago, attempting an olypic gold run, when half way down came across a very old skier who had fallen over, he was smilling and ok, the only problem he-we had was getting him on his feet, as it was pretty steep, anyroadsup, eventualy i got him up, (nearly killed me doing it) I WAS KNACKERED, he said danke, and then beat me down the hill, the old bugger probably laughin all the way, dont know his age but he must have been gettin close to prehistoric, i did chuckle to ...
