Transporting your board

So I was admiring my brand new, first ever snowboard today. I had just finished emboidering my name on my board bag (looks great, yes I am a guy) and was putting my board back into the bag.

My mate walks in looks at me zipping up my bag and says

"You are going to remove your bindings before you put your board on the plane aren't you?"

Is this the recommended thing to do?
Does leaving the binding on risk damage in transit?

The only reason I can think of is ...

The only reason I can think of is stacking multiple boards. I have 1 board one pair of bindings. It fits perfectly. I'm also packing stuff into the bag that'll pad everything out.

It is a problem when ironing boards legs drops down the poor baggage handlers can't get them through the hold Wink

My arse is going to be he biggest most padded arse on the whole slopes.

and seeing as I don't need to hold onto poles (or stablizers Razz) I'll have two hands free for a large bat, or as I like to call it, the anti-ski-mo-tron

Please note our poles were introduced in order to help boarders on their way this is why padding in the never region was introduced Razz
