Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Afternoon fellow Bulgaria lovers.
Now when I went to Bulgaria(pamps) in 2005, I stayed in Hotel Pamporovo, and was happy with the place, food wasn't wonderful, but yet to find a hotel in Bulgaria where it is. Everything else about the place seemed fine. The partner had a search on the web for reports, and some are awful! to which I responded, you only hear the bad news, never the positive.. I was just wanting to put her mind at ease, our make it twice as worst knowing my luck! were are out there 2Mar - 9Mar(Mrs & 2 of our friends) Has anyone stayed recently, Just an idea!! sure it can't be any worse than a stay in the hotel Rozhen in 2003!!!!! but that's another story. Cheers guys. The more positive the better! as can tell the Mrs everything is good!!!!

Just arrived home yesterday after staying the week in the hotel pamporovo. We stayed there the same time last year and decided to go back with friends this year. My wifes friend is a vegeterian and i am quite a fussy eater and we found the food good although could possibly be doing with being hotter.

The hotel rooms were fine although on the last night we had some hassle with a group of irish getting a bit rowdy. The prices of drink in the lobby bar a considerably higher than the irish or bowling bar but when you arrive back after a day on the slopes a nice cold beer or hot chocolate on the chesterfield sofa around the fire is luxurios. We found the reception staff and maids to be very grumpy at times but was told by the ski instructor ivan this was quite usual. But it never put us off.

Cheers for that Alan, that's what I want to hear!! up to date report!! excellent!!!!!! I have always found hotel workers a tad grumpy, think that comes with the job they have!!! work all hours god sends, and get paid poor wage!!! suppose its hard to be happy all the time.
Yeah I remembered it had a nice bar area and fireplace,
good to hear the food is good!!! did you sample to pool?
Least I can now tell the Mrs she has nothing to fear!!!!

Two of us stayed there last week for the fourth time in four years, overall I would say that the hotel has improved a little, the staff in the Perilik restaurant actually smile now!!!! The food is still lukewarm, but that's the way the Bulgarians seem to like it and the variety makes up for it - there's always something you'll like.

The Reception staff as always are miserable b's and give a bad first impression, we had hassle from one of the receptionists but a quick word from Maria the Balkan Holidays rep sorted that out. So the message there is don't take any flak get your rep on the case - they have quite a bit of clout.

I would say that the biggest problem at the Pamporovo, as at any hotel, are the guests - in particular those that come back in the early hours singing and shouting and slamming doors, not all of us are party animals and relish our beauty sleep after a hard day on the slopes.

Overall I would recommend the Pamporovo as a comfortable welcoming hotel.
