Lol @ Mark IOW (it's Kim here - former IOW resident) - it would be nice for a meet over there and easier for me, being in Southampton now BUT...... there's NO SNOW over there is there!!!
What's the Edinburgh Marathon like? Did London last year, my first Marathon, it was fantastic and I'm hooked now, but didn't get in this year, gutted. Have been looking at the Edinburgh as a poss. alternative. Sorry to talk about running on the Ski website, off to Pamps on the 19th!
If its the same course as last year its really flat, it starts in the city centre and then you run out to Longniddry in East Lothian before heading back and finishing at Musselburgh Race Course.
There is also an Edinburgh Half Marathon in March and if you enter this it guarenttees you entry to the full Marathon if you want it.
as gogs said the course has changed slightly though due to the metro they are building, think the first mile takes you up to the castle then along the golden mile and as above finishing at the racecourse, less poeple than london, the ballot closes soon though so you need to move fast.
Sam, in Edinburgh we have the Royal Mile its Blackpool that has the tacky Golden Mile. Your correct about the build work, there're presently in the process of installing a tram system in Edinburgh so every corner you turn there seem to be more roadworks.
I know the organiser now attempt to keep the course as flat as possible, because elite runners used to refuse to run because the original course was extremely hilly and they couldn't do fast times.
