re: WHY ME !!!!!!!!!

I've got two dodgy wrists and still been able to ski twice - 14 weeks after surgery on the right wrist I was back on the dry slopes...

Tell your instructor that you have a bad hand and that you don't want to fall - even during the first moves - otherwise, take a good amount of strapping with you.

Gidday Donna.

I've skied with a bad thumb before and I'm about to give you the best advice you can get for a recently dislocated thumb.
1) strap it up
2) this is the big one. As you know on the top of the ski poles you have a strap so you don't loose your poles but this strap is not just for that. You should never put your hand through the loop from the top then just hold the pole grip. If you fall in this position you tend to release the pole and land with your hand open and bang goes ...

2) this is the big one. As you know on the top of the ski poles you have a strap so you don't loose your poles but this strap is not just for that. You should never put your hand through the loop from the top then just hold the pole grip. If you fall in this position you tend to release the pole and land with your hand open and bang goes your thumb again.
You should always put your hand though the bottom of the loop so when you hold the grip the strap is between your hand and the grip. This allows you to do good strong pole plants even if you loosen your grip on the pole but the good news is that if you fall over you tend to land with your fist closed around the pole thus saving your poor thumb.

Hope this helps.

Have a good one.

re: WHY ME !!!!!!!!!

Bad Luck Donna. Have the supermarket been hwlpful in trying to trace this hooligan driver? Sounds like someone could have been very seriously injured - not saying that your thumb is insignificant. Do they have CCTV to track him down?

Enjoy the holiday
