What can you do for cramp

I got some rotten cramp in the arch of my right foot stretching across to the little toes on Tuesday when I was dry skiing - what can I do to prevent this happening when I spend a whole day in boots.

They are fine for walking around the house and doing the washing up in (don't believe in ironing!) but fix them to a pair of skis and I can't manage much more than about 25 minutes before bad cramp.

Sensible suggestions please

One of the most recent remedies I have heard of is to drink lots of Tonic Water.

The high level of Quinine that is a major ingredient in Tonic Water is supposed to be excellent for both the prevention and cure of cramp.

Give it a go, but not with Gin!!!!!!!!!!!

But I don't like tonic water - is there a problem with my boots that's causing this in the first place.

I don't particularly like Nerofen but it cures my headaches!!

It is VERY important that your boots are right for you otherwise your week could be hell.

When I first realised that I was hooked on skiing I bought a pair of Lange boots and they are like slippers.

Cost me about £70 in Pamporovo and they are the best thing I have ever bought.

Would STRONGLY advise you to buy a good pair, I'll help you chose in Pamps if you decide to.

re: What can you do for cramp

I just bought a pair of Technica Rival X8's hotform linings to fit exactly and together with a pair of custom footbeds about a month ago.

I can walk around the flat in them for ages, but stick on a pair of skis and within the half hour there is cramps...

I have major problems with boots as I used to run many years ago and so not many boots fit around my chunky calf muscles.

They've already blown out the boots once.

Some people suggest extra salt on the food, the salt stops the bulid up of fitigue in the muscles and joints and theirfore crap... might be worth a try ! Very Happy

Yup, I've been told this one too. Same with long distance runners getting cramp, lack of salt and dehydration.

I was only doing a few snowplough turns on a nursery slope - surely it couldn't have been dehydration that quick - although I did gulp down a half litre bottle of orange juice on the way home.

Is it more that my boots don't fit properly or that I'm dehydrated.

re: What can you do for cramp

Many people go OTT when tightening their boots. We've all seen them, off the lift, must tighten my boots, first run, must tighten my boots, get to the bottom, must tighten my boots.

The fact is that they do not need to be too tight, but they must be comfortable.

How often do you ever see an instructor tighten his/her boots.......NEVER.

Next time, try them with less pressure as you my be hampering the bloodflow to and from your legs.

Pamp u know who. Cool
