Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and have one massive question to ask (apart from if you think it will snow, ha ha).
Myself, my partner and our daughter are all coming out on the 22nd and we are all torn between snowboarding and skiing. We all went skiing about 5 years ago and I have to say that I took to it like a duck to water (I think this is due to my ice skating experience) and as such was skiing black runs at the end of the week (not bragging just trying to give you a picture of ability). My partner however was not so good and as such struggled.
So, I fancy snowboarding but do you think I should stick to skiing as I found myself to be quite natural with it or do you think I should give snowboarding a try and do you think both the girls would be any good with the board. I used to skateboard so is this relevant?
We are no experts and would love some insight from yourselfs.
I have only ever skied. I go with a local school every half term to Austria, I find that the beginners ski tend to pick it up quicker than the beginners Boarders. My Son tried boarding for half a day when we were in Bansko 3 years ago, and found it very hard,so he has stuck to the ski's
Skiing in general is alot easier to master , snow boarding intially is harder , and alot more falling can put ppl off , but once you have ,mastered it , is alot more fun , cooler and has more street kudos ...... having said that each to their own
And as for doing blk's by the end of the week ,anyone can do snow plough
Hi Benn, we have just returned from a new years holiday in Borovets. The snow conditions were not brilliant but we were directed to Crown Ski Hire Shop next to the Crown Pub next to the button lift in front of the Rila. The reason I am Telling you about this Ski Hire Shop is that we (family of 4) rented skis, boots & poles for a week 120 lev each, but the guy in the shop lets you swap between snow blades, boards or skis at no extra charge.
Ha ha, I know mate. It is a bit like that to be fair.
I havent been in 5 years and I had such a top time, I am obsessed at the moment, constantly lookin at vids on YouTube and all that caper. Just been speaking to my mate who is an experienced skier and he said as I have only been once before then I should try my hand at boarding even though I was OK at skiing because I would need to learn that all over again anyway!
I reckon I should pick up boarding OK though (famous last words).
