Some of you may already know (I'm sorry for boring you!) Myself and my daughter are going to Pamps. 6th February.
We've never been before and I'm booked into a 'learn to ski' thing. The child is seven and we have been told by the tour operator (Balkan) that she's too young for ski school, so she's booked into the kindergarten, but really she wants to learn to ski. What can be done?

What do the kids in kindergarten do? Will I be able to sort her out into a learn to ski group when we're there - considering we arrive Sunday night and start the activities Monday morning I'm a little concerned about how much time we'll have make other arrangements.
If you ask when you get there she can go in your group. You might have to argue politely but should be no problem at all. But kindergarden is very good so up to you really
we have been going to pamps for 5 years now and one of our friends have a child who has been skiing since i can remember. I think she was seven when she was being taught and can ski better than me any day! ask the instructors about one to one tuition for your littleun.
enjoy your holiday.
Thanks for the replies - the kid's a tad worried that she'll be hanging around with 'babies' and won't be able to try any skiing. We can't find out what exactly happens in kindergarten I think we've been looking at it as though it's some sort of creche rather than an activity in itself. Daniel - what do the kids do in kindergarten? I keep hearing it's great but have no idea what goes on!

I can't speak for Bulgaria but my daughter started skiing at 5 in Austria, she was in a ski kindergarten but after two days I paid slightly more for one on one lessons for two hours a day. She will learn quicker at 7 than most kids would by starting at 10! I cannot keep up with my daughter who is now 8 and i have skied for 14 years!
kitty,
we put our 4 year old in the kindergarten at the rila last year. we are choosy who with and where we leave him but they were excellant with him. we go back on feb 5th and he is going in again and he cant wait.
our usual routine was drop him off at the kindergarten around 9 in the morning.

it is a lovely purpose built area with usual kids stuff to do. they also get their own locker to put ski gear in. he played for about 3/4 hour then they get them in their ski gear and take them to the slopes for 1 1/2 hour basic ski lesson. they then take them back for lunch (we picked him up and had lunch with him but he wanted to stay, rotten parents). the routine was repeated in the afternoon and we collected him around 4pm.
there are plenty of ladies to look after them and they are very kind, they have a mixture of older ladies and younger ladies who are very gentle with the kids.
They are very flexible and let us take him with his boots and skis to try to do more sking some afternoons with him.
if we go again next year ie when he will be 61/2 we will probably try to get him some private lessons but at the moment he is too young (its hard work for us never mind them).
the only problem (if thats the right word) with the learn to ski ski school is that it is for 4 hours per day which in bulgaria usually is about 6 hours. the tuition is very good but that is a long time for younger children and that is why they put a lower age limit on
if you ski anywhere else in europe ski school is usually 2 hours and will end after 2 hours. thats why the age limits differ.
there were quite a few 6 and seven year olds in there last year.
any other info just place areply on this thread.
My daughter (5 nearly 6 ) was in the kindergarten in Pamps at Xmas and she did enjoy it. In the morning they wait for all the kids to turn up then play some games for an hour or so. Then at about 10 it was off to the slopes where most of the kids skied at the bottom of the nursery slopes for an hour or so. My daughter had a problem with her boots and chose to sledge instead. A couple of the younger kids did the same. At lunchtime they were all put back into the mini bus and back to ...

After lunch back to the ski depot for some more action then they left at about 3 - 3.30 back to the Kindergarten where they drew, painted or played games until their parents collected them between 3.30 and 4.30.
I asked the ski instructor about our daughter getting lessons next time we go and she said it wouldn't be a problem. They do however learn the basics at Kindergarten and have a whale of a time.
