Whatever happened to Mr Borosport?

We were told that the Black Flags were because the man who run Borosport had been killed. Lots of different rumours flying around. What's the truth?

My instructor told me he was shot by the Mafia. Then again he could have had a meal in the Iglika........

re: Whatever happened to Mr Borosport?

We were told his wife was a russian agent, he was shot by the mafia, he was killed... no one would say anything for certain. Does Mr Bulgariaski know the truth and will he tell us - provided he is not drunk or skiing! Razz

re: Whatever happened to Mr Borosport?

I was back from Borovets on Saturday, I am led to understand that the gentleman concerned was the manager of the Rila. Inside there is a book of condolence and a picture by reception. I also understand that he stood up to the mafia and this is what he got. It does spoil what could be one of the best things to happen to Bulgaria (tourism).

re: Whatever happened to Mr Borosport?

Hi Judith,

We were in Borovets the week it happened and was informed that he had been shot in Sofia. One of our ski party had a relation working in the capital hence the info. We asked our ski instructor if he knew what had happened but he wouldn't tell us, we asked if that him being shot was the truth but he kept avaoiding the question, so who knows..... It seems that most people are telling the same story so there must be some truth in it.

re: Whatever happened to Mr Borosport?

The man in question was Bulgarias richest man worth several Billion dollars by all accounts. He had interests in many companies as well as the owner of Borosport. I believe he is one of the top ten richest people in Eastern Europe. He apparently used to go to Borovets quite frequently and ski. He gave evidence a while back into the murder / assassination of a member of the Bulgarian parliament or something similar and was gunned down the day after he gave evidence. My understanding is ...

My understanding is that people believe it was the work of the Mafia but obviously people like us will never really know. I know this is pretty acurate as the person I was with got a phone call saying the above before it was even announced on the news in Bulgaria.
