I've stayed in the Samokov and the Iglika - two totally different hotels and it depends what you are looking for.
The Samokov is a very large hotel, with it's own ski school and ski depot and is just across from the gondola. It has loads of sports facilities including swimming pool, sauna, massage etc. Has a large lobby area with bar and man making pancakes every afternoon. All the rooms have bath. The Samokov is a very large hotel, with it's own ski school and ski depot and is just across from the gondola. It has loads of sports facilities including swimming pool, sauna, massage etc. Has a large lobby area with bar and man making pancakes every afternoon. All the rooms have bath. At dinner there is a large buffet selection which was always piping hot, and there was a chef cooking fresh omelettes both at breakfast and at dinner in the evening. Ski instructors caberet and diploma presentations take place in the nightclub in the basement.
The Iglika is a much smaller hotel, it's right opposite the Rila and there is the option to have a superior room with a bath - otherwise it's a shower. The restaurant has a more basic menu, but it's all geared up to a smaller hotel. If you are using a ski school, you use Borosport which is a much larger ski school. There is no nightclub at the hotel so it's generally much quieter, but it does overlook the buzz bar.
