Me and hubby going back to Bansko 10th March - needed to go again as we were in Bansko the week of the Eco-warrior bomb threat so only skied 3 days. Where do you stay in Borovets and whats the airport transfer time?

re: Where to go??

Borovets is your place - especially with the age of your party !! Have only ever stayed @ the Flora apartments but suggest self catering as the restaurants etc are so good and cheap Wink Everything is right on your doorstep - runs, gondola, places to eat/drink...it really is lovely !! Booze

re: Where to go??

Borovets, definitly. Have been both to Bansko and Borovets, and I definitly had a better time in Borovets. When I was in Bansko, the gondola was closed two days because of heay wind. Borovets has got some slopes you can ski on, when te gondola it's closed. Borovets has a much better nightlife, with loads of cool shops, bars and restaurants. And, Borovets is way closer to the Sofia Airport, so you won't have to travel so long from the airport to you hotel or apartment.

re: Where to go??

if its a large party , i would look to rent a chalet that could house the lot in a nicer euro resort.

Hunt around things like tripadvisor.com or holidaywatdog, com Do the homework, reap the reward.
It will be cheaper as a group than using a BG hotel you know free places or passes etc etc. Igluski are good for chalets but some brochures (despite what the 'book independantly' band think) have good ones too. But again...read the small print as with everything. Dont blame it afterwards ...

In summary BG does need to embrace the 'chalet' culture to accomodate large groups.
