Hello people, a wee bit off topic I suppose but with the relatively poor snow conditions so far this year, is it really worth investing in one of the many developments that are springing up? If the season was previously 12 weeks or so and is getting shorter surely that isn't worth buying into?? Does anyone have any thoughts on this as I was very much interested in buying until reading the poor forecasts over the last month or so . . . .or is this a freak thing?

By the way, it's a whiteout up here in Central Scotland!
You should not be investing if you are going to rely on rental to help pay your mortgage because it will not happen. If you are looking long term with the view as a holiday home for you as well then better. I am sure that there are many people on here that know better than I and will help you with more info.
suppose it would depend on where also, they are trying to develop Bansko as a summer holiday destination also like they have with some of the resorts in Austria and France ect, with hill walking and mountain biking, so if that continues to grow as it has already been doing you would get revenue back from that also.
any one would be mad to invest in Bansko now. Its over built and under serviced, it will take years to get back up to any decent level. Also bansko is realtively dead in the summer. There is much better value to be had around Borovets/Malyovitsa /Goverdartsi, as much more money is going into the infrastructure there, and it gets a lot more usuage in the summer due to its proximity to Sofia. There tends to be a mass exodus at the weekends due to the stiffling weather in Sofia and this area is ...

Thanks folks, I have a couple of apartments along the coast which are fortunate enough to be mortgage free. One for family use and one to draw some income from. However, I would have needed to mortgage any property at the ski resorts which now looks pointless as would have relied on rental to pay for itself
We were told by our rep in Pamps when we were there couple of weeks ago that Crystal Active are coming to Pamps for Summer Tourism, they are excellent we holidayed with them.
Our Rep who's been there for 3 yrs, lives with a Bulgarian has also invested in land and is building there.(we thought this was a good sign).
She gave us some good advice.

We were also told by someone else that if you are in it for the long term and want a holiday home then thats better. We are buying 2 apartments next door to each other here to use mainly for ourselves for winter and summer hols and are fortunate not to have them mortgaged. We may try and rent but will see how it goes when the time comes, but initially we did buy for our own use and as long term investment. Also be aware of how the Bulgarians work with Notary Deeds.
