having made our first trip to borovets back in january, and having spent hours and hours on this website before going trying to find out as much info as poss, i would just like to say to anyone who is heading out - RELAX!

we were very apprehensive - we had been warned about the ladies of the night, the food, etc etc. but we headed out with open minds and had a wonderful time. you just have to remember you are travelling to another country - it IS going to be different - and to be honest, it was lovely to travel abroad somewhere and really know you were in a different country. the food at the Rila was different - but filling, and offered a variety of flavours. the restaurants surrounding the Rila were friendly and offered good food and cheap drinks.... we did not once see a lady of the night - well, not to our knowledge anyway - although hubby did get handed out fliers to visit various strip clubs etc - which considering we were on 'honeymoon' made us giggle. so if you are lucky enough to be heading out - just go with the flow, enjoy the atmosphere, admire the country, RESPECT the country. so the temperature of the food might be a little dodgy, the rooms may not be to your liking and there may be a little noise - but you are guaranteed that the Bulgarians will do all they can to make you feel welcome and if you go out there, ready to accept what Bulgaria has to offer - yes BULGARIA, not france, or austria, you will have a fabulous time!
